Simplicity is the key here. The MiniTurtle is made from an orange soccer cone and the top of a wiffle ball cemented into place on the top. The off-the-shelf security cam is then mounted inside and powered by a 9 V battery.

Very cool. You could install a switch between the battery and camera for quick deployment. Maybe you could even try building a batch with small stakes on the bottom that you could stick it into dirt.
oh that's not a bad idea, have three wire tent stakes that i could push into the dirt real quick!
