Tallying up the number of mentions on a recent stormtrack.org thread - I came up with this map for favored chase areas of the country. No surprise that the Texas panhandle and caprock region was the overwhelming winner. Surprised that no one mentioned eastern Colorado but maybe that should have been my job.

The end of web design - and maybe the web itself

Or my job. Fail.
Major failure from you both.. and me... *sigh* But Western Kansas/Eastern Colorado top out with the Panhandles for me!
My chase experience is limited, obviously, but I love the area from Last Chance to Kiowa to Lamar to Colby to Sterling and back to Last Chance ...
Not to mention anywhere in Montana. :)
All of those areas look appealing to me, but I don't get out that way often. So I guess I'll stick to northern Virginia 'til my next Plains chase opportunity!
Hello Verne, I came across your blog this evening and now have you linked to a new wx/chaser blog I'm starting, myself (chasersworld.blogspot.com).
Anyway, it's too bad that more chasers don't experience the Dakota's more often. The terrain can be very cooperative in many areas up here. I'm on board in the more heavily favored areas of the central and southern plains, but from late-spring to mid-summer, these parts can truly be an untapped resource.
Hope the off-season treats you well.
